Our Belief

The staff of Skyline Church is committed to building marriages, not simply performing wedding ceremonies. We desire for marriages, especially new ones, not just to survive but to thrive.

**We limit our involvement with weddings to those where both the man and the woman either have a born-again relationship with Jesus Christ and can talk about that relationship openly, or are willing to consider accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. We believe that as we follow God’s plan, success is a natural result. We look forward to sharing with you in this process.

Beliefs

We believe that God ordained the marriage relationship. We further believe that marriage is a holy institution created by Him for the mutual satisfaction of husband and wife and the orderly propagation of the human race. Therefore, we believe that the only marriage relationship is between one man and one woman.

It is our conviction that the stability of this union is based, not on a series of vows, but on an enduring selfless and spiritual commitment of husband and wife to each other and to the Lord they serve. It is, therefore, entered into only after careful consideration and preparation. We especially strive to nurture our people to see the value and symbolism of keeping themselves pure before the Lord and subsequently united by marriage.

We believe that no relationship, especially marriage, can be fully successful without being wholly committed to Jesus Christ. Unless you look to Him as your source of love and commitment, you can never fully experience the ecstasy, the satisfaction, the joy, and the exciting adventure God has planned for your marriage.

We require all couples who plan to be married by a Skyline Church pastor to attend and complete our Pre-Marital Class.

Pre-Marital Class

Steps to Get Married at Skyline Church

Step 1: Complete the Wedding/Pre-Marital Interest Form.

Step 2: Attend Skyline’s Pre-Marital Program.

At Skyline Church, we believe that a successful marriage begins before the ceremony, so we ask each couple to participate in the Pre-Marital program, which helps engaged and seriously dating couples prepare for a healthy, lifelong marriage. This 6-week class includes weekly teaching on what makes a healthy marriage, conversation with a marriage mentor couple, and the results of an assessment tool that will help couples gain valuable insights about each other.

The cost of our Pre-Marital course is $50. We strongly recommend completing the process at least 6 months prior to your wedding date.

Based on our assessment of a couple’s current state and readiness to enter into a marriage relationship, we have the right to deny the couple our sincere blessing and approval to pursue marriage by the use of our facilities and pastors. We would like to note that all monies paid to Skyline Church for the Premarital requirements are non-refundable.

Step 3: If being married by a Skyline Pastor, schedule an initial meeting.

After you complete the pre-marital course, we will be in touch with you to schedule an appointment with a Skyline pastor. You will receive a link to a form with more specific questions about you, your fiancé, and your wedding plans. If you requested a specific pastor, we will do our best to connect you with your preferred pastor, depending on their availability. During this initial meeting, you will have an opportunity to get to know the pastor, learn more about the pre-marriage process, and begin a conversation about your wedding ceremony.

The suggested pastoral honorarium for officiating a wedding is $250.00 plus any travel expenses associated with ceremonies located outside of the reasonable travel range. The honorarium is due at the wedding rehearsal.
