What are Church Connects?
Church Connects are the classes that meet on the weekends during regular worship services. They cover a variety of topics—Bible study, marriage, relationships, health—all from the perspective of Biblical truth. They also come in a myriad of styles from lecture to open discussions.
Why would I want to be a part of a Church Connect?
Well, we were given brains for a reason; God wants us to be continually learning about him and the world he created. Church Connects will help you expand your mind about who God is and the way his perspective can shape ours.
Plus, Skyline is a big place, and it can be easy to get lost in a crowd. A Church Connect is a great place to begin interacting with a smaller group of people, a more manageable place to begin making friends. And these are the best kind of friends, the kind of friends who are learning God’s Word alongside us and challenging us to become who God made us to be.
Okay, but where do I start?
Well, you’ve already gotten a great start by browsing to this webpage below are descriptions of all of our classes, and it should help you make an informed decision.
If we can make a suggestion, we highly recommend beginning with Encounter 101. This class is a great place to start learning about God, Skyline and your role in the church. It’s a 8-week class and we have new sessions starting several times a year, but feel free to jump in whenever you’d like.

When you’re not sure where to start, it’s always a good idea to start at the beginning.
This discussion-based course helps both new and seasoned believers explore the essentials of the faith, form deep relationships, and invest in life at Skyline. If you’re wondering where to begin, this is it!
We’ll examine our preconceptions of who God is, ask what it means to be truly free from sin, explore how each one of us has a role in the ongoing work of the church, and address a variety of other topics that are meant to spark thinking and discussion. You have a place at Skyline, and we want to help you discover where that place is!

Newly Married Class
Are you in the first 5-7 years of marriage? Would you like to learn skills
that will help you not just survive marriage, but thrive as a couple? Join
The Newly Married class to interact with other couples and grow together as
you grow towards God. This lively, discussion-based class helps build
relationships as it mines God’s Word for wisdom on the real-life
expectations and experiences of marriage and life.
February 21 – March 28, the class is currently studying “Male and Female”
which examines the differences between men and women. “These Bible
discussions point the way toward honoring our differences and treating each
other as prized equal partners.” This study is part of The Intimate
Marriage Series by Dan Allender and Tremper Longman.

STORIES

Everyone at Skyline has a story of how they were invited to church, when they began attending or who influenced their decision to encounter Christ. Those stories demonstrate the power of faith in Jesus Christ, and that power is found in stories.
In this 3-week class, you will learn how to share your story with others, and how to look for and listen to the incredible stories deep within the hearts of your family, friends and coworkers.
The Weigh
8 Weeks of Weight Management Education

- 2 looseleaf notebooks with video/teaching notes

NOTE: If you are planning to be married at Skyline, or be married by a Skyline pastor, this class is a requirement. This may be the only class to be offered this year. Financial Peace University
Begins January 24

Financial Peace University is a 13-week life changing program on personal finance, which empowers people to manage their money better, eliminate debt and build wealth. All material is biblically-based and taught via video by Dave Ramsey.

Strong Marriages

This class for married couples (35+) will help you build a healthy and successful marriage. Whether you are building on a solid marital foundation or are on shaky ground the practical Biblical guidance and strong friendships of this class will help you find new strength and vitality.

Growing with God
By beginning with a genealogy that traces Jesus’ ancestry all the way back to Abraham, the book of Matthew sets the stage for the arrival of the Messiah and then propels us into an examination of Jesus that changes everything we’ve ever known. He came to complete all that had come before, to fulfill it, to bring it to the fullness of what it was intended to be all along, and as we journey along with Jesus through the book of Matthew we’ll get a picture of the Savior that is captivating, real and life-changing. New Venture

Entrepreneuring for Christ
Is God’s desire for your life a forethought or an afterthought? This discussion forum for business owners, leaders and professional people focuses on how to integrate our work plans with God’s plan. Come and get ideas, network, make friends and engage in thoughtful discussion about what it means to maximize our potential and dedicate every aspect of our lives to Gods glory.
But Entrepreneuring for Christ isn’t just for those who have ”made it” professionally. This warm and welcoming class opens their arms to everyone who is asking what the future may hold, what God has to say about it and how they can sharpen their personal leadership skills so that they can become an Entrepreneur for Christ.
How do we launch ourselves into a leadership journey and influence those around us? Some of the best leaders throughout history, including Jesus, have used the power of word pictures. Learn how to harness the power of words through the 18-week study of “Habitudes” developed by Dr. Tim Elmore.

Home Improvement
1 Corinthians 6:19 tells us that each and every believer is a “temple of the Holy Spirit.” We are the place God resides… his home, and that home is constantly under construction as it is renovated from the inside out by the power of God. This large, energetic and diverse group will make help you feel right at home at Skyline because in this class everyone is family, and they will challenge you to grow deeper in your relationship with God and your understanding of him. Come and feel at home as you explore a variety of topics that will challenge you to constantly be making improvements to your temple, the “home” of God.

Young at Heart
In life we never stop learning, experiencing, and growing, and we never stop needing each other to help us with all of those things! Join this class for mature adults (55+) as they share life together and help one another continue to grow in Christ.

Journey
As Christians we are easily fooled into forgetting that we serve a miraculous God who is capable of miraculous things. William Carey, a missionary from the early 19th century, once said, “Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.” Through careful study of the the promises of God’s Word, and the fascinating stories of what God is doing around the world as told by the people who have been there, this class aims to expand our minds, encouraging us to dream big dreams of what God can do in our lives and in the world.
Come and enjoy a verse-by-verse look at 1 John—they very heart of the Gospel—and begin to look at the work of God from a global perspective as you share life with people who are passionate about what God is doing throughout the world.
Current Study: Study of Revelation
Wars and rumors of wars. False prophets. Famine and earthquakes. Believers hated by all nations because of Christ. Persecution of believers on an unprecedented scale. An increase of wickedness. Acceptance of sin within the church leading to apostasy. Many believers falling away from the church. The love of many growing cold.
These are the signs that Jesus warned would precede the end of time. These signs in fact will signal a period of calamity on earth which will be unprecedented in history.
Are these times beginning? Perhaps, but believers can be ready if indeed the end is near. Learn what Jesus dictated to John in this powerful book regarding end times.
